Scotland’s finest, Mogwai, play a gig in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre this June as part of their 20th anniversary tour.
Mogwai are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a special run of shows, marking two decades since they first met in the Glasgow living room of Stuart Braithwaite’s parents to rehearse together for the first time.
The band formed in Glasgow in 1995 as a quartet with Dominic Aitchison (bass), Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Martin Bulloch (drums), and John Cummings (guitar, computer), with Barry Burns (keyboard, computer, guitar) joining the fray later.
With a succession of well-received releases over the years, including Young Team (1997), Come On Die Young (1999), Rock Action (2001), The Hawk Is Howling (2008), and last year’s Rave Tapes, this is one special show that you will not want to miss!
As they enter their third decade, it is safe to say that Mogwai is a band in the ascendancy. Last year’s critically acclaimed eighth album Rave Tapes was their first to break into the top 10, followed by a worldwide sell-out tour, including the Sydney Opera House and two shows at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Mogwai play the Olympia Theatre on Thursday, 18th June. Support on the night comes from RM Hubbert.
