The MART, the arts organisation that provides spaces to foster and promote artistic endeavours, is looking for your help.

Following on from the recent I HEART MART campaign, the guys in The MART are looking to raise some much needed funds, and are reaching out to the public to help.

2015, for the most part, has been a very good year for them with new studios coming on stream, and a host of great exhibitions. However, financial pressures are also ever-present, partly due to a lack of funding and some issues with local government bureaucracy.

The guys are trying to get themselves sorted out financially, and have decided that a little fundraiser might be a way to give them some breathing space. The aim is to raise some much needed funds which will in turn be invested in the upgrading and maintenance of the building, and also the day-to-day running of The MART.

To this end, they are organising a raffle with some great original artworks as prizes, each one worth in excess of €200. Tickets are only €5 each and may be purchased online or in the office in The MART. Every single ticket sold helps the guys reach their target. The draw will take place at 1pm on Thursday, 22nd October in The MART.

The funds raised through the raffle will help sort out issues like the dilapidated roof to the laneway, the main gallery roof, provision of new lighting, repair of floors, and the provision a new flat surface to the front space to allow proper access for buggies and wheelchairs.

There are demands on us all every day financially, but if you are in a position to help out and buy a raffle ticket or two, that would be great. Community and local backing is essential in keeping an enterprise like this running.

Organisations like The MART work tirelessly to promote and bring the arts to the attention of the public, and with a successful round of fundraising, the guys are looking to even provide free space for students and locals to experiment and showcase their work. So, everyone wins!
