The annual Sand Sculptures Exhibition is underway in the courtyard of Dublin Castle, running throughout the month of August.
Now in its 15th year, the Sand Sculptures Exhibition is back at Dublin Castle, and the works are as impressive as ever. The theme of the exhibition this year is Emotional States.
Even though there are only three pieces on display, you cannot but be impressed by the intricacies of the carving and sculpting involved in the creation of these œuvres. The sand used in the sculptures is either riverbed or glacial sand, which is best suited to this process.
Entrance to the exhibition is free, and you could also take the opportunity to wander around the superb Dublin Castle, relax in the Dubh Linn Gardens or pop into the Chester Beatty Library.
And all that without having to put your hand in your pocket! Isn’t Dublin great?!
