Jameson Dublin International Film Festival recently announced the launch of DIFFpix, its new platform for pop-up screenings and special events.

The Dublin International Film Festival, in conjunction with Dublin City Council, has launched DIFFpix, with a view to celebrating the rich and diverse contribution that the city of Dublin has made to cinema.

The organisers of DIFFpix will be taking a look back at some of the most iconic movies set in the capital. We all remember ‘The Commitments’ and ‘My Left Foot’, lasting proof of the city’s long and proud cinematic legacy.

The lovely people in DIFF want you to join the DIFFpix Club to receive regular updates on their special events and to be in with a chance to win tickets to film related gigs around the city, from red carpet premiers to hidden surprise events in some of Dublin’s coolest venues.

DIFFpix first event in Smithfield on 26th July

The first DIFFpix event is already underway. Called #smithFILMsquare, a competition is underway for tickets for the public to be in with a chance to take part in a special outdoor screening of Dublin’s Favourite Film in Smithfield on Saturday, 26th of July.  The organisers have started a discussion – what is Dublin’s Favourite Film?

They have selected 12 iconic Dublin films – one for every year of the film festival’s existence, and they want your feedback on those films.

So, what is your favourite Dublin film? The shortlisted movies are:-

– Adam and Paul

– I Went Down

– Inside I’m Dancing

– Intermission

– My Left Foot

– Once

– The Commitments

– The Snapper
