Dublin2020 invites you to a special free gig in Meeting House Square in Temple Bar this October, featuring some great local acts.

How about a free gig in Temple Bar this October, courtesy of Dublin2020? Well, that’s what’s on offer on Saturday, 17th October, when THE HOT SPROCKETS, ANDERSON and DARLING all take to the stage in Meeting House Square.

The concert is to celebrate Dublin music, and Dublin2020 want to encourage all of us to support our city and the bid for Capital of Culture in 2020.

The Hot Sprockets

The Hot Sprockets are five brethren who came together with a shared love of rock n’ roll music; the kind that is haunted by the ghost of electric dirt. Take the good-time revolutionary spirit of MC5, simmer it down to the sounds of bittersweet soul yearning, add some rough-edged Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and you are in the cosmic transcendental realm of the Sprockets.”

Anderson

From time spent working on building sites to fronting the band The Rags, Finglas native Anderson decide that it was time solo and do it for himself, built his own recording studio in the space of 18 months, and went on to release the superb ‘Patterns’ in September.

Darling

“The morning after their previous band had fallen apart, Gary Harding and James McGuire, two young men from Dublin, sat down in a cafe and scribbled down everything they wanted to achieve and everything they wanted to avoid in a new band. The next 12 months was spent working out of the spare room in Gary’s parent’s house, teaching each the other the merits of songwriting and studying the greats. First came the tunes, then the name.”
