This April, the Olympia Theatre in Dublin hosts a star-studded concert to raise much-needed funds to help combat youth homelessness.
Homelessness has been, and continues to be, one of the major social issues of recent times, especially when it affects our younger citizens.
With unprecedented numbers living rough on our streets, and countless others facing the threat of eviction on a near daily basis, the persistent lack of action on the part of our politicians has meant that it is left to the ordinary folk to try and resolve this problem.
Rock Against Homelessness aims to raise much-needed funds this April in the fight against homelessness, with proceeds going to youth organisation One For Ireland.
According to the organisation, “There are over 1,600 homeless children in Ireland today. With almost a 100% increase in children living in emergency accommodation or on the streets since 2014, their childhoods and teenage years are defined by insecurity, often leading to a life in crime or on the streets.”
There is a great line-up of the best of Irish musical talent confirmed for the night, including Camille O’Sullivan, HamsandwicH, The Strypes, Le Galaxie, Mundy, Heathers, and Roisin O. And a little something for the older attendee with Something Happens, The Stunning, and Brian Kennedy all taking to the stage for a gig to remember, and all for a really great cause.
Rock Against Homelessness takes place at 8pm on Sunday, 24th April, in the Olympia Theatre. The event has been organised by Independent News & Media in conjunction with MCD Productions. Tickets cost €25 and are available for purchase online or by calling 0818 719 300.
