American singer and songwriter, Cat Power, is coming to the Olympia Theatre in Dublin for one night only this July.

Cat Power is the stage name of Chan Marshall and her recent album ‘Sunis a combination of Delta blues and Memphis soul. The album, released in 2012, was written, recorded and produced entirely by Marshall and comes six years after her last successful album of original material.

Sun’ has been called a ‘rebirth’ by Marshall and the album features classic Cat Power guitar as well as Latin-sounding piano. There are also some upbeat, dancey pieces as well as a cameo from Iggy Pop. Marshall recorded the album over the past three years in Malibu in a studio she built herself as well as in Silver Lake, Miami and Paris.

Cat Power’s smoky vocals and fusion of sounds and music, from avant-garde pop to country, have earned her a massive loyal following.

Cat Power comes to the Olympia on Wednesday July 16th at 7.30pm. The gig is fully seated and tickets begin at €28.90, inclusive of booking fee. Tickets may be purchased online and at all Ticketmaster outlets (including the Olympia Theatre box office: 0818 719 330).
