Canadian indie darlings Arcade Fire headline what promises to be one of the gigs of the summer at Marlay Park in Rathfarnham next June.

The foothills in south Dublin will be coming alive this June as Arcade Fire, supported by Pixies, will be performing for one night only in the majestic setting of Marlay Park.

This is the final scheduled gig of the European leg of their Reflektor tour, before they head back Stateside. The gig on the 29th June, however, coincides with the Glastonbury festival, fueling speculation that the band might be popping across the pond for a sneaky Somerset appearance.

Arcade Fire was formed in 2001, and came to the attention of the music world with the release of their 2004 debut album, Funeral. Winners of a Meteor Music Award for their 2008 album, Neon Bible, the band released their fourth and latest album, Reflektor, last October to much critical acclaim.

Pixies return to Irish shores after their recent appearance at Dublin’s Olympia, much to the delight of their loyal fanbase here. Formed in Boston in 1986, the band broke up in 1993, only to reform in 2003.

The lineup remains the same today, with the exception of bass player Kim Deal, who left the band in June of this year. Pixies have recorded and released two new EPs recently, entitled EP1 and EP2.
