The Liquor Rooms hosts an evening exploring design and the drinks industry this September, with two very knowledgeable speakers on hand.
We probably don’t really realize how much design and drink go hand in hand! Some of our best watering holes are also the most aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
On Wednesday, 30th September, The Liquor Rooms in Temple Bar will host a talk series looking at the worlds of design and the drinks industry.
The guest speakers on the night include George Boyle who runs her own architectural practice in Dublin, and Harry Parr of Bompas & Parr, based in London.
George has been described as a quixotic, determined, cryptic, liberal architect and earth mother. In a hat. She works in a number of partnerships and collaborations in architecture, design and adventures in other creative areas. She also co-founded the Fumbally Exchange in Dublin in 2010 to assist design professionals to start up and recover from the bleak effects of recession. She was involved in the design and creation of the new Teeling Distillery in Newmarket Square in Dublin 8.
Bompas & Parr was founded in 2007, and the studio has grown from just Sam Bompas and Harry Parr into a team of 14 skilled and ambitious people. The firm leads in flavour-based experience design, culinary research, architectural installations and contemporary food design, and first came to prominence through its expertise in jelly-making. They are the creative force behind the Taste Experience for the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin (pictured in lead image and below), officially the best place to taste Guinness in the world.
There will be a special cocktail available on the night (with a special price of €8 for all attendees of the talk) in addition to some delicious free samples. PROPERCORN will also be on hand with some of their delicious popcorn for the evening. This is going to be an evening of creative partnerships, great company and of course, the odd cocktail or two!
This event is free to attend and open to all – you don’t even have to be a designer! Pre-booking is necessary, and tickets may be reserved online. Doors open 5pm, talks begin at 7pm. It will be a busy night, so you are advised to get there early to get a seat! Food will be served until 10pm.
The Cocktails+Design talk series at the Liquor Rooms celebrates the partnerships between the drinks industry and design. Cocktails+Design is supported by Irish Design 2015 in collaboration with IDI Design Social and Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI).
