Oktoberfest, the annual 16 day funfair held in Munich from late September into the first week of October, once again makes its way to Dublin.

People from all around the world travel to attend the event that celebrates German beer and food and which has been part of Bavarian culture since 1810. Over the past few years, the festival has spread to cities all around the world, including Dublin, and it has grown into being one of the most popular food and drink festivals in the world.

This year’s Oktoberfest in Dublin takes place in George’s Dock in the IFSC Docklands from September 18th to October 5th. A marquee similar to that of Oktoberfest in Munich, along with authentic Oktoberfest barmaids, German food and a wide selection of authentic Bavarian beer will ensure that festival goers will get a flavour of the real thing here in Dublin.

A traditional German market will offer a wide variety of traditional German foods, including German Bratwurst, Haxn, Sauerkraut, typical Burgundian ham and much more. Ice-cold and fresh tapped German beers as well as wines and long drinks will also be on offer.

As well as delicious food, there is a chance to engage in some traditional Bavarian entertainment, such as schuhplatterlern, Fliegerlied dancing and nailing. There will be the opportunity to learn how to yodel and dance a polka.
