The Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet returns to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with its performance of Romeo and Juliet.
This November 18th and 19th, the Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet is back in Dublin with Romeo and Juliet, accompanied by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. The show was a huge success when it was last performed in Dublin in 2013 and received a standing ovation after every performance, as well as a five star review from the Irish Times.
The Perm Ballet is unusual in that it draws almost all of its dancers from its own school, The Perm Ballet School, which is one of the most respected ballet schools in the world.
The city of Perm is has an honoured place in ballet history not only due to its connections with Tchaikovsky, who was born in the nearby town of Votkinsk, but it was also the home of Sergei Diaghilev, the towering genius of the Ballets Russes, who launched Anna Pavlova and Vaslav Nijinsky onto the European stage. Perm is also home to one of Russia’s oldest and most distinguished theatres, The Perm P. Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.
This is a truly international ballet company and accompanied by the RTÉ National Symphonic Orchestra and Prokofiev’s superb score, it is a performance not to be missed!
