The 2014 edition of Longitude is back in Marlay Park for three glorious days later this month – but you better get a ticket while you still can!
It’s less than two weeks until revellers descend upon Marlay Park for the second Longitude festival to see the best of Irish and international acts entertain Dublin. Unfortunately for the majority who were planning a Saturday-only trip, those tickets have now sold out.
Longitude won awards for Best Medium Festival and, unsurprisingly, Best New Festival at the Irish Festival Awards following the inaugural event in 2013. It also fell fortune to the flaming heatwave that ignited the country last July and tickets sold out just in advance of the festival. Evidently hopes are clearly high for a repeat performance of the peak temperatures following the early sell-out, but weather aside, it looks set to be a great festival occasion with exciting line-ups across the three days.
Unlike most of the festivals so far this summer where music is not the only (nor the main) draw, it is really all about the music at Longitude. Its focus is on current and emerging homegrown and international artists, pleasing a variety of musical tastes.
Day one, Friday, sees Ben Howard, Bastille and Bombay Bicycle Club topping the bill and we’ve got it on good authority that Swedish Axel Boman’s set is one that shouldn’t be missed.
Day two: Haim, Disclosure and Chvrches are on the Saturday to entertain those lucky ticket holders. Bray local Hozier is also performing on the Saturday.
Day three, Sunday, could prove the least popular with festival goers for obvious reasons but the line-up is no less: Banks, one of the most exciting acts of the year will perform alongside dubstep group Rudimental and our own James Vincent McMorrow. Electro artists Massive Attack will bring the festival to what should be a very memorable close.
There are a number of travel options to Marlay Park with shuttle buses running from Customs House Quay. Return tickets are €10 on the day or €9 for advanced online booking.
Although the Saturday tickets have sold out a limited number of Friday, Sunday and three day weekend tickets are still available. Don’t miss out! For tickets go to Ticketmaster.
