You’ve watched the film, heard the album and gone to all those screenings. Now Playback bring you a live re-enactment of Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.

Floor lamp? Check. Big suit? Check. A tape they’d like to play? Check. Come and watch as the band blast through all sixteen of the songs from the film, including classics like “Psycho Killer”, “Once in a Lifetime”, “Burning Down the House” and “This Must Be the Place”.

Playback is an “album tribute band” made up of some of Dublin’s finest singers and musicians. They have previously performed Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde and David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane in full and have headlined shows at venues and events such as the Grand Social, Bello Bar and David Bowie Festival.

The guys are rolling out the Stop Making Sense show on Saturday 20th April in Greystones’ Whale Theatre. After that they plan to spend 2019 taking the experience around Ireland’s mid-level venues and theatres.

They have expanded to an eight-piece for this show in order to do justice to the movie’s backing vocals, synth solos and conga workouts.

The full line-up is:

Justin McCann – vocals, synth
Cathal Farrelly – vocals, guitar
Paula Size – vocals
Karen Williams – vocals
Alan Maguire – guitar
Gordon Dunning – bass
Mark Finlay – drums
Ronan Slater – percussion
