Come celebrate the IFI Horrorthon’s 18th birthday this October with five days of truly terrifying films!
The IFI Horrorthon is back this autumn, running from Thursday 22nd to Monday, 26th October. The festival programme once again promises a superb selection of torturous treats in the run up to Halloween, with 33 features (23 of them Irish premieres) and two shorts programmes.
Special guests at the 2015 IFI Horrorthon include director Richard Stanley, Caroline Munro, best known as a former Bond girl and Hammer regular, producer Sean Hogan and legendary illustrator Kevin O’Neill.
One of cinema’s most iconic figures, the late Christopher Lee, will be this year’s IFI Horrorthon Honours recipient. Horror maestro Wes Craven who passed away earlier this year will also be remembered with a late-night double bill and a screening of one of his best-known classics.
Mick Fox, spokesperson for the IFI Horrorthon, said “This year’s festival is very possibly our most exciting yet, with iconic guests attending, terrific new films, and tributes accompanied by great retrospectives. It’s definitely a year not to be missed!”
The Irish premiere of The Invitation, a tense and unnerving thriller, will open this year’s festival. Many more Irish premieres will be screened throughout the weekend, including Last Girl Standing, Goodnight Mommy, Deathgasm, a New Zealand ode to heavy metal horror, The Hallow, and Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno, amongst many others. The programme also features a rare 25th anniversary screening of Exorcist III (1990), as well as the Short Film Showcase.
