The Laya Healthcare City Spectacular Turns 10 this July

The Laya Healthcare City Spectacular returns to Merrion Square Park in Dublin this July.

Billed as Ireland’s biggest and most-loved summer festival, the Laya Healthcare City Spectacular is back in Dublin’s Merrion Square, running from the 10th to 12th July.

There is an impressive programme of events planned for the three days, with something for all the family on offer. As always, there will be plenty of street performers present to amaze and enthral the crowds. As this is the 10th anniversary of the festival, the organisers have invited back a number of the festival’s favourite performers, along with the very best new acts from around the globe. Look out for sword swallowers, back-flipping break dancers, and jugglers amongst the international line-up.

Alongside the street performers, there will also be the Belgian acrobatic troupe Cirq’ulation Locale, who are performing for the first time ever in Ireland. They use a massive trampoline, and add an impressive mix of juggling and acrobatics to their high flying moves.

The younger visitors will be well catered for throughout the festival. The ESB Spark Your Imagination area is a creative hub for children designed to inspire, educate and feed the imagination. There will be various workshops, science displays from Doktor Kaboom (pictured in lead image above) and plenty of other activities to keep everyone occupied.

Emphasis is also being placed on physical activity with the Laya Healthcare’s SuperTroopers, all about getting children active and moving while having fun. There will be Happy Yoga and FitKidz classes in addition to simple and fun games with skipping ropes, hula hoops and mini-trampolines.

As well as all the activities taking place in Merrion Square, the festival will also be moving out into the city with the Silent Disco Walking Tours, which depart from the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street. Expect spontaneous Flash Mob dancing, interpretative dancing around local landmarks and lots of crazy improv. This is a ticketed event.

There will also be a Food Village on site, with a wide selection of top quality local produce on offer. Wander through and explore the stalls, and feed the whole family with healthier choices.

The Laya Healthcare City Spectacular takes place in Merrion Square Park from the 10th to 12th July. Admission is free.
