The annual Fingal Film Festival opens its doors to the public for a new film festival format this August at Swords Castle in Co. Dublin.

Friday the 11th August will see the launch of the Festival’s sixth annual event and this year the team have changed venue to the idyllic Swords Castle.

As the summer holidays get underway and you are wondering what events will create memories that will carry you through the dark winter, book your place at this year’s annual film festival event. Fingal Film Festival will have the best line up of comedy, live music and Independent film whilst all your hospitality needs will be catered for by the team at the Wright Venue for the whole weekend, open from 11am till late every day.

Fingal Film Festival 2017

Launching the festival on Friday, courtesy of High Flyers Distribution UK, will be the Irish Premiere of the feature film “Knights of the Damned”, from the producers of Game of Thrones, with special effects by the team who created Harry Potter. Live music and entertainment will feature throughout the whole weekend with Paddy Casey taking to the stage on Saturday night. Live comedy will be provided by Giz a Laugh and Rory Stories.

Casting and Acting workshops will be held for adults and young people with guest speaker Eva Jane Gaffeney from Louise Kiely Casting. There will also be the Foley Design workshop with Jean McGrath and Coaimhe Doyle from Ardmore Sound & Screen Scene, plus children’s animation workshops with guest speaker Darren Murrey from Brown Bag Films. These events will feature throughout the weekend, alongside the screening of independent films from all over the world.

Morning Gloryville Rave in a Castle

Sunday will focus on a Family Fun Day with Morning Glorville’s Rave in a Castle, with yoga – rave – music for everyone, followed by indie screenings and live music, drawing the festival to a close.

The main sponsor of this year’s event is Fingal County Council, cementing Fingal Film Festival into the annual calendar for the whole county, as this event will have something for all ages and interests.
