To mark its 10th anniversary, Croí Glan Integrated Dance Company from Cork presents a special new double bill this June at Project Arts Centre.
Croí Glan was founded by Tara Brandel and Rhona Coughlan in 2006, and has being wowing audiences both across Ireland and internationally since, receiving critical acclaim for its work. To celebrate its first 10 years, the company is coming to the Project this June
To this end, Croí Glan has invited back its two favourite and most performed choreographers, David Bolger (On the Wall, 2009) and Jess Curtis (Asymmetrical Tendencies, 2007) to create a dazzling new double bill to celebrate this milestone anniversary.
FANCY DRESS by David Bolger
What is a fancy dress? Is it something we wear at parties? Something we adorn to disguise our true selves? A walking stick becomes a magic wand. It makes us dance. Dance as if no one is watching. In this short and snappy trio, we invite you to enjoy some funky moves, a kicking soundtrack and a few fancy dress tips.
Choreographer and Director: David Bolger
Dancers: Mike Daley, Jack Webb and Tara Brandel
Lighting: Rónán Mac Raois
Costume: Maree Kearns
REMOTE by Jess Curtis
Mobilised or frozen… alone at home in front of our screens, do we transcend or are we trapped in our bodies? Using a remote process with electronic media and social networking, Jess Curtis applies his familiar post-modern choreographic style to this piece, influenced by a Berlin/San Francisco aesthetic. With this duet, Jess investigates the ups and downs of our bodies within our evolving digital culture. Does digital and social media enhance our democratic mobility or enforce immobilisation?
Choreographer and Director: Jess Curtis
Dancers: Tara Brandel and Linda Fearon
Composer: Matthias Herrmann
