The Dublin Writers Festival, founded in 1998, is Ireland’s premiere literary event, gathering the world’s finest writers to debate, discuss and delight.
The festival has been described as being Ireland’s most successful and best annual literary event by the press and each year, the festival has a line up guaranteed to impress.
The Dublin Writers Festival brings together a mix of writers of fiction and non-fiction as well as poets, screenwriters, playwrights and lyricists for workshops, debates, performances, discussions and screenings. Children’s fiction is also represented as well as Irish language writers and the event brings together well-known faces with new names in ways that surprise and inspire.
This year’s festival kicks off on Saturday 17th May and runs until Sunday 25th May. This year’s programme is packed with events covering all aspects of writing with a host well known names such as Joseph O’Connor, Joanna Trollope, Johnny Vegas and Anne Enright.
Events include a writing and performance masterclass, poetry workshops and a seminar on writing historical fiction. Talks on everything from video game writing to crime fiction are on offer, with many events free to attend. On selected nights, the fun continues for late night literary and music events in various locations around the city.
